Visual Kei&Anime – Alice Nine.
This is the eleventh in total but first edition in 2021 of Visual Kei&Anime! I’ve very excited to be bringing this section very close to a full year of features! Don’t think the momentum has stopped in the slightest folks. This time our featured band has been peppered throughout my years of Visual Kei listening, none other than Alice Nine!
アリス九號. or romanized is Alice Nine. is a Visual Kei group that got its start in Tokyo, 2004. Show and Toru’s former band Givuss had just disbanded. Saga from Delta Ark, and Nao drumming for both Fatima and RusH were also looking to start new projects at this time, and the four of them came together. Show being on vocals, Tora on lead guitar, Saga on bass and then Nao on drums. The un-official unit would spot Hiroto performing with his then band Baquepia. Once they approached him with the intention of him joining the group Alice Nine as the rhythm guitarist, they became an official unit!
The group has never had any line-up changes during their sixteen years of being together. They would however go through a few name changes over the years. Alice Nine, written in English was their name from 2004 to 2014. In 2015, the group would change their name to A9. The group would then c

Alice Nine or アリス九號. (previously known as alice nine. and A9) is a Japanese visual kei band consisting of five members: 将 (Shou) on vocals, ヒロト (Hiroto) on guitar, 虎 (Tora) on guitar and backing vocals, 沙我 (Saga) on bass and backing vocals, and Nao on drums.
Drummer Nao formed the band in 2004, recruiting vocalist Shou and guitarist Tora from the band ギブス which had just split up, and they were signed to the PS COMPANY indies label Indie-PSC. Their first single 「名前は、未だ無ひ。」 was released the same year. During their first year, they did small tours with other Japanese bands. Their first oneman tour was held in August 2005 in Japan. After a sold out gig in Tokyo the same year, Alice Nine became more popular in Japan, and went major on KING RECORDS under the management PS COMPANY. In 2007 they were signed in Europe by CLJ Records.
In May 2007, Alice Nine was performing their debut show in America, during the Jrock Revolution Festival at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. In December Alice Nine was doing their first performance ever in Europe. They were one of the five bands at J-ROCK INVASION EPISODE 1 festival in Cologne, Germany.
